Senior Associate Attorney – Trial & Defense (5-8 yrs)

Position Description:
A global law firm is seeking a litigation associate with 5 to 8 years of experience to join its Trial and Defense team in Los Angeles. This practice focuses on the defense of public and private entities in high-exposure, complex matters, including employment disputes, personal injury, commercial litigation, class actions, and claims involving sensitive subject matter.
This is a strong opportunity for a litigator who wants substantive responsibility, sophisticated casework, and direct client interaction within a collaborative, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities

Manage an active caseload of approximately 10–20 matters

Investigate claims and develop case-handling strategies

Draft and respond to written discovery

Review and analyze documents for production

Conduct legal research using Westlaw

Take and defend depositions

Draft pleadings, motions, and supporting papers

Prepare and argue motions and attend hearings

Draft pre-trial and trial materials
-
Prepare matters for mediation and trial and participate as needed

Communicate professionally with opposing counsel and clients

Provide clear, timely reporting on case status, strategy, and risk
Required Qualifications

JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

Active admission to the California Bar

5 to 8 years of substantive litigation experience

Experience handling cases through key phases of litigation

Strong deposition and motion practice capabilities

Excellent legal writing and communication skills

Strong judgment, organization, and proactive ownership of matters

Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities efficiently
Work Arrangement

Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote

Role is based in Los Angeles
Compensation
-
Salary range: $200,000–$225,000

The range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors considered in compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business needs
