Position Description:
A global law firm is seeking a litigation associate with 5 to 8 years of experience to join its Trial and Defense team in Los Angeles. This practice focuses on the defense of public and private entities in high-exposure, complex matters, including employment disputes, personal injury, commercial litigation, class actions, and claims involving sensitive subject matter.

This is a strong opportunity for a litigator who wants substantive responsibility, sophisticated casework, and direct client interaction within a collaborative, high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an active caseload of approximately 10–20 matters

• Investigate claims and develop case-handling strategies

• Draft and respond to written discovery

• Review and analyze documents for production

• Conduct legal research using Westlaw

• Take and defend depositions

• Draft pleadings, motions, and supporting papers

• Prepare and argue motions and attend hearings

• Draft pre-trial and trial materials

• Prepare matters for mediation and trial and participate as needed

• Communicate professionally with opposing counsel and clients

• Provide clear, timely reporting on case status, strategy, and risk

Required Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

• Active admission to the California Bar

• 5 to 8 years of substantive litigation experience

• Experience handling cases through key phases of litigation

• Strong deposition and motion practice capabilities

• Excellent legal writing and communication skills

• Strong judgment, organization, and proactive ownership of matters

• Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities efficiently

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote

• Role is based in Los Angeles

Compensation

• Salary range: $200,000–$225,000

• The range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors considered in compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business needs

• The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled

• It is not typical for an individual to be hired near the top of the range

• Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case
