Firm Description:
Our client is a fast-growing, full-service law firm with offices in Chicago and Milwaukee. With a foundation built by partners from top-tier international firms, our client offers sophisticated legal services across a broad range of corporate and litigation matters. The firm represents a diverse and engaging client base, including private equity firms, founders, startups, venture capital investors, family offices, and public companies.

Position Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced funds attorney to join their growing Funds Group. This is an opportunity to take a lead role in managing full fundraise lifecycles while working closely with a highly collaborative and collegial team of partners.

The ideal candidate will have the experience and confidence to independently lead client matters, oversee fund formations, and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the fundraising process. Bringing portable business is a plus, but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of fundraises from inception through closing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and handle matters with minimal supervision.
  • Work collaboratively with the Funds Group partners in a supportive, team‑oriented environment.
  • Manage fund formation matters, related regulatory issues, and ongoing fund operations.
  • Take ownership of existing matters and help expand the group’s capacity by onboarding new client engagements.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of relevant fund formation or funds-focused legal experience.
  • Experience with Venture Capital and Private Equity (closed‑end funds) is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with credit funds, infrastructure funds, real estate funds, and/or hedge funds (open‑ended funds) is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work effectively from any location; fully flexible geography.
  • Strong client management skills and comfort operating autonomously while remaining collaborative
