Position Description:
Our client, a nationally recognized law firm with a premier intellectual property practice, is seeking an associate with at least three years of experience in trademark and copyright litigation to join its team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regarded practice that handles sophisticated IP disputes for a diverse client base across a range of industries.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience across all phases of district court litigation and a strong interest in developing as a top‑tier IP litigator. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex trademark and copyright disputes, collaborating closely with experienced attorneys in a dynamic and collegial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support all phases of district court litigation, including:
- Drafting and responding to discovery
- Document review and case management
- Legal research and motion drafting
- Deposition preparation
- Pre‑trial preparation
- Assist with pre‑litigation investigations and enforcement strategies
- Participate in settlement negotiations and dispute resolution efforts
- Handle matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), including contested proceedings
- Collaborate with team members to develop case strategy and deliver high‑quality client service
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of trademark and copyright litigation experience
- Experience in federal district court litigation is required
- Exposure to TTAB proceedings, enforcement actions, and pre‑litigation strategy is preferred
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple matters concurrently
- Demonstrated interest in developing a long‑term career in intellectual property litigation
Location
This role may be based in any of the firm’s major U.S. offices, including Los Angeles, Menlo Park, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, DC, Chicago, Atlanta, or New York. This is not a remote position.
Compensation
- Expected base salary range: $285,000 – $325,000
- Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and market factors
