Commercial, Competition & Trade Associate (4-6 yrs.)

Position Description:
Our client’s Commercial, Competition & Trade Practice Group is seeking an experienced, business-oriented attorney to join our Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of experience advising clients on commercial transactions and related regulatory matters, including:
- Product sales and distribution agreements, and related service contracts
- Distributor, dealer, sales representative, and franchise protection laws
- Sales and secured transactions (UCC Articles 2 and 9)
- Licensing agreements, including traditional IP licenses, software-as-a-service (SaaS), cloud-based solutions, and AI/SaaS and other emerging technologies
- Antitrust and unfair trade practices
- Food, beverage, and FDA compliance
- Intellectual property and data privacy/protection matters, including negotiating technology agreements, developing terms of service, product development, GDPR and CCPA compliance, and IP portfolio management/strategy
Qualifications and Skills:
- 4 to 6 years of experience practicing commercial law
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading projects through completion
- Proven ability to mentor and train junior attorneys
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Innovative, results-oriented approach to client service, with the ability to develop creative, practical solutions
- Ability to distill complex legal issues into clear guidance for international clients and non-legal stakeholders
- Experience working effectively with globally distributed clients in a fast-paced environment
- Strong client management skills and business development acumen
- Commercial litigation experience is a plus, but not required
