Position Description:
Permanent Placements is seeking a Commercial Litigation Senior Counsel to join a nationally recognized Am Law 200 firm in its San Diego office. This role is designed for a senior-level litigator who can operate with autonomy, serving as local counsel and, at times, lead counsel across a range of complex matters in California state and federal courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as local counsel and, at times, lead counsel on litigation matters
• Manage cases from inception through resolution
• Draft and argue motions and legal memoranda
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Handle written discovery and complex discovery strategy
• Appear in court for hearings and proceedings
• Work closely with clients and internal teams on litigation strategy

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial litigation experience
• Strong experience in California state and federal courts
• Proven ability to independently manage litigation matters
• Excellent writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Interest in or experience integrating AI tools into legal practice is a plus
• Strong academic credentials
• Prior law firm experience required
• Active California Bar admission required

Work Model

• Hybrid
• No strict firmwide hybrid mandate
• Preferred in-office days are Tuesday and Thursday
• Initial onboarding period expected onsite before transitioning into a more flexible schedule

Compensation

• $175,000 to $280,000 annually
