Position Description:
Permanent Placements is conducting a confidential search on behalf of one of the world's most prestigious international law firms for an Office Administrative Director to lead operations within its Los Angeles office.

Position Overview
The Office Administrative Director is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of office operations while ensuring exceptional support for attorneys, business professionals, and clients.
This individual will collaborate closely with office leadership and firmwide departments to improve processes, enhance efficiencies, oversee administrative functions, and foster a high-performing and collaborative culture.
Responsibilities
Office Leadership & Strategy

Partner with office leadership to execute strategic initiatives and business priorities

Identify opportunities for innovation, operational efficiencies, and process improvement

Support long-term planning efforts and office growth initiatives

Collaborate with finance, technology, talent, and operational teams to support firm objectives

Monitor and communicate progress related to strategic initiatives and business goals

Serve as a trusted resource to attorneys, partners, managers, and business professionals
Office Administration

Oversee non-legal operational functions across the office
-
Manage departmental budgets, expenses, and operational performance
-
Provide oversight of billing, timekeeping, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions

Coordinate vendor relationships and office infrastructure initiatives
-
Partner with leadership regarding space utilization, lease administration, and real estate matters
-
Oversee business services functions including legal support, records management, research, knowledge management, law clerks, secretarial services, and operations teams

Support employee engagement initiatives, office events, wellness programming, and community outreach efforts

Maintain emergency preparedness and business continuity protocols
Talent Leadership

Partner with firm leadership regarding recruiting, employee engagement, compensation initiatives, performance management, and professional development efforts

Ensure compliance with firm policies, procedures, and operational standards

Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture

Support talent development, retention initiatives, and leadership succession planning

Lead change management efforts and assist with implementation of firmwide initiatives
Candidate Profile
Candidates should closely align with the following qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required

Minimum of eight years of law firm administration, legal operations, or office leadership experience

Law firm management experience is required
-
Demonstrated experience supporting attorneys, partners, office leadership, and executive stakeholders

Experience managing office operations, budgets, vendor relationships, and business services functions

Experience overseeing legal support teams, records management, operations, facilities, and administrative departments within a law firm environment

Proven ability to partner with office leadership to execute strategic initiatives and operational objectives

Strong project management, leadership, organizational, and change management capabilities
-
Ability to influence, collaborate, and lead effectively within a sophisticated, matrixed organization

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities

Demonstrated professionalism, executive presence, sound judgment, and discretion

Demonstrated career progression and tenure are strongly preferred

Compensation & Schedule
Base Salary: $215,000–$250,000
