Firm Description:
Our client is a full-service business law firm with a strong reputation for guiding international and domestic companies through the complexities of operating in the U.S. market. With offices in Chicago and Schaumburg, they offer strategic counsel across corporate, immigration, employment, real estate, and dispute resolution matters, with particular strength in supporting Japanese and other foreign-owned businesses. Known for their collaborative approach and deep understanding of cross-border operations, the firm provides attorneys with a dynamic platform to engage in sophisticated legal work that blends business insight with global perspective.

Position Description:
Our client is seeking a seasoned Real Estate Attorney ready to step into an Income Principal role and lead sophisticated commercial real estate matters across the U.S. This is a rare opportunity to inherit and grow an existing book of business as a senior partner transitions toward retirement. If you thrive on complex transactions, enjoy building client relationships, and want to make a major impact within a growing practice, this is an opportunity you’ll want to explore.

In this role you will represent a mix of domestic and foreign-owned businesses in a wide range of commercial, industrial, and corporate real estate and finance transactions. You’ll handle matters from intake to close, lead deal teams, and play a key part in strengthening and growing the overall practice.  This is a longterm, growthoriented role for an attorney who wants to be a key pillar of the practice and help shape its future.

What You’ll Do
You’ll lead and manage a diverse portfolio of real estate work, including:

  • Negotiating and drafting complex leases (office, industrial, retail, mixed‑use, medical, R&D, and more)
  • Guiding clients through acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, development projects, and real estate finance
  • Structuring and documenting credit arrangements and secured financing transactions
  • Conducting due diligence, including title and survey review
  • Advising on economic incentives procurement and site selection
  • Supporting large-scale real estate development and construction projects
  • Leading and mentoring attorneys and paralegals
  • Driving business development initiatives and cross‑selling within the broader firm

Ideal Candidate Profile
Our client is looking for someone who brings:

  • An active Illinois law license
  • 8–10 years of commercial real estate experience
  • Proven success managing complex transactions and client relationships
  • Strong business development instincts
  • Excellent judgment, initiative, and leadership skills
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong partnerships
  • Genuine interest in long‑term stability, partnership, and being part of the practice’s future

Travel
Some travel may be required to other office locations, client sites, networking events, and for business development. Occasional out‑of‑state or international travel is possible.
