Labor & Employment Litigation Associate Attorney (5-8 years)

Position Description:
Our client is seeking a labor and employment attorney with 5–8 years of experience to join their litigation practice. This role involves handling employment-related disputes, advising clients on complex workplace issues, and independently managing matters from initial investigation through resolution. The ideal candidate will have strong deposition experience, motion practice skills, and the ability to provide guidance on retaliation claims, reasonable accommodations, discipline, terminations, and related employment concerns. Candidates should be located in the Los Angeles area to accommodate in‑person depositions and hearings; remote work flexibility is available for other responsibilities.
Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of approximately 10–20 matters
• Investigate claims and develop case strategies
• Assess and respond to complaints filed in state and federal courts
• Draft and respond to written discovery
• Review and analyze documents for production
• Conduct legal research
• Take and defend depositions
• Draft and file pleadings and motions
• Argue motions at hearings
• Prepare pre‑trial and trial documents
• Prepare cases for mediation or trial and participate as needed
• Communicate effectively with clients and provide strategic advice
• Advise clients on employment issues including retaliation, accommodations, discipline, and terminations
• Handle matters involving labor and employment investigations
Required Qualifications
• Previous law firm experience required; Am Law 200, leading regional, or major boutique firm experience preferred
• 5–8 years of labor and employment litigation experience
• Admission to the California Bar
• Extensive experience handling all phases of litigation
• Strong deposition experience
• Experience arguing motions in court
• Ability to independently manage cases with partner oversight
• Exceptional legal writing and communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple matters
• Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
Preferred Qualifications
• Trial experience
• Experience advising clients on a broad range of employment issues
• Experience with labor and employment investigations
• Membership in the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI)
