Position Description:
Permanent Placements is searching on behalf of our client, a leading global law firm, to identify a mid-level Litigation Associate to join its Complex Commercial Litigation group in Chicago.
The firm is seeking an experienced and driven attorney with a strong foundation in broad-based commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience (2020-2022) gained at a top-tier law firm or comparable experience, such as a federal judicial clerkship.
This role offers the opportunity to work on high-stakes, complex disputes, with meaningful involvement across all phases of litigation in both Illinois state and federal courts.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and support matters through all stages of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, expert development, and trial
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and briefs
- Conduct legal research and case analysis
- Coordinate litigation strategy and case management across Illinois state and federal courts
- Manage large-scale discovery in complex matters
- Take and defend depositions
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of general litigation experience in a top-tier law firm or similar setting (judicial clerkship experience considered)
- Experience managing complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Strong writing, research, and case management skills
- Excellent academic credentials
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication abilities
- Admission to the Illinois State Bar required
