Land Use & Environmental Associate (3–5 Years)
Locations: Los Angeles, Oakland, or San DiegoOur client, a well-established mid-sized California law firm, is seeking a Land Use & Environmental Associate (3–5 years of experience) to join its growing practice. The team advises on high-profile, large-scale development projects across California, representing both public and private sector clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex and impactful projects that shape communities, infrastructure, and development throughout the state, within a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on land use entitlements, planning, and zoning matters
- Guide clients through regulatory permitting and environmental review processes
- Provide counsel on California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance and strategy
- Support or handle land use and environmental litigation (preferred)
- Manage multiple matters concurrently while collaborating closely with internal teams and clients
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in land use and environmental law
- Strong knowledge of CEQA, planning and zoning laws, and California land use processes
- Experience with entitlements, permitting, and environmental review
- Land use litigation experience preferred
- Excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative setting
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $195,000 – $245,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and location
- Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and billable hour incentives
