Position Description:
Our client, a premier law firm with a highly regarded energy-focused practice, is seeking a Transactional Tax Associate with 1–3 years of experience to join its energy and climate-focused team.
The ideal candidate will have experience advising on transactional tax matters, particularly those involving federal tax credits under Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E of the Internal Revenue Code, including tax equity and transferability structures. Candidates with broader transactional tax experience who are interested in specializing in this area are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on tax aspects of energy and infrastructure transactions, including tax credit monetization structures
- Work on tax equity financings and transferability transactions related to renewable and energy transition projects
- Collaborate closely with attorneys across corporate, project finance, debt, and securitization teams
- Support innovative clients in structuring and executing complex energy-related transactions
- Contribute to cutting-edge matters in a fast-paced, evolving sector
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of transactional tax experience at a law firm
- Experience with renewable energy tax credits or similar financing structures strongly preferred
- Exposure to tax equity transactions and/or transferability frameworks is a plus
- Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills
- Interest in energy, infrastructure, and climate-related matters
- Ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams

Location
Preferred locations include San Francisco and Los Angeles, though candidates in other office locations may be considered.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $225,000 – $260,000, based on class year
- Eligibility for discretionary merit bonuses
