Tax Controversy Associate (3-5 yrs.) – DC or Philadelphia

Position Description:
Our client, a national law firm, is seeking a tax controversy associate to join its Taxation & Wealth Planning practice in either Washington, D.C. or Philadelphia.
The ideal candidate will have three to five years of relevant experience handling tax controversy matters, including audits and appeals. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex matters in a collaborative and client-focused environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and LL.M. in Taxation required
- Admission to practice in the applicable jurisdiction
- Prior experience with the IRS (e.g., IRS Chief Counsel), U.S. Tax Court clerkship, or the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division/Tax Branch required
- Experience in tax controversy matters, including audits and appeals
- Exposure to tax litigation

Compensation: Our client offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. In Washington, D.C., the expected base salary range for this position is $225,000–$245,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
