Position Description:
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Conflicts & Risk Management Attorney to join its Business Intake team. This is a unique, non-traditional legal role focused on the analysis and resolution of legal and ethical conflicts of interest. The attorney will evaluate new business matters, conduct research, analyze conflict reports, and help facilitate conflict resolution while ensuring compliance with applicable professional responsibility rules.This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with exposure to a variety of business intake, risk management, and compliance functions. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, research, writing, and communication skills, along with a willingness to support multiple functions across the team. There is no billable hour requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze conflict reports and prepare detailed conflict analyses.
- Identify, evaluate, and help resolve or avoid conflicts of interest related to new matters and engagements.
- Draft conflict waivers, engagement letters, memoranda, and related documentation.
- Conduct legal and corporate research, including review of public records, corporate affiliations, regulatory filings, sanctions information, and other relevant sources.
- Utilize internal and external databases to gather and evaluate information.
- Establish and maintain ethical walls when necessary.
- Analyze conflicts related to lateral attorney and staff hires.
- Review and negotiate vendor agreements.
- Support leadership on matters relating to business intake, risk management, and conflicts.
- Assist with conflict searches and related intake processes as needed.
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and process improvements.
- Identify and address inconsistencies within database records.
- Serve as a resource for attorneys and staff regarding conflicts, new business intake, and lateral hiring procedures.
- Assist in developing and maintaining business intake policies and procedures.
- Support business continuity planning, including emergency and downtime procedures.
- Provide occasional after-hours or weekend coverage as required.
Qualifications
Education
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) required.
- Active bar admission required.
Experience
- Prior experience in conflicts analysis, legal risk management, or a related area is preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to evaluate large volumes of information and data.

- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures and instructions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other PC-based applications.
- Experience with legal conflicts management software is a plus.
Work Environment
- Primarily remote work environment.
- Occasional additional hours may be required based on business needs.
- Candidates should be located within reasonable proximity to an office location should in-person attendance be required periodically.
Compensation
Our client offers a competitive compensation package. The anticipated salary range for this position is approximately:
$120,000 – $145,000 annually
Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
