Position Description:

Litigation Associate – Commercial Litigation

Our client, an elite national law firm, is seeking a 4th–5th year Litigation Associate to join its Commercial Litigation practice in Los Angeles.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a litigation associate looking to work on complex, high-stakes commercial disputes, including matters involving significant business, brand, and reputational issues. The position offers substantial hands-on responsibility, direct collaboration with experienced trial lawyers, and accelerated professional development within a sophisticated litigation practice.

Responsibilities

• Manage key phases of complex commercial litigation matters
• Handle written discovery, document review, and discovery strategy
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and substantive motions
• Prepare and argue both dispositive and non-dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions
• Assist with witness preparation and case strategy
• Support trial preparation, trial strategy, and courtroom proceedings
• Collaborate closely with partners and clients on litigation objectives and case management
• Effectively manage deadlines and multiple workstreams in high-stakes matters

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active membership in good standing with the California Bar
• Approximately 4–5 years of litigation experience
• Experience handling complex commercial litigation matters at a law firm or through a relevant judicial clerkship
• Strong experience with:
  • Discovery management
  • Legal research and analysis
  • Drafting pleadings and motions
  • Witness preparation
  • Taking and defending depositions
• Exceptional analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Outstanding academic credentials
• Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation matters
• Prior exposure to high-profile business disputes, brand-related litigation, or reputational matters

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $285,000 – $325,000
