Position Description:

Litigation Associate

Our client, an Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking a Litigation Associate with 1+ years of experience to join its Litigation Practice in either San Diego or San Francisco.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking exposure to sophisticated, high-profile litigation matters within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced litigators on complex disputes while receiving substantial responsibility and opportunities for professional development.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with all phases of complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Conduct legal research and draft:
    • Motions
    • Briefs
    • Pleadings
    • Discovery requests and responses
    • Memoranda and other litigation-related documents
  • Manage document productions and discovery workflows
  • Support litigation strategy development and case evaluation
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on complex disputes
  • Contribute to client alerts, articles, presentations, and thought leadership initiatives
  • Participate in business development and client relationship activities
  • Work directly with clients and litigation teams to advance case objectives
Qualifications
  • J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the California Bar
  • 1+ years of complex litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience handling discovery and document production
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to client service
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
  • White collar defense
  • Government investigations
  • Internal investigations
  • Real estate litigation
Additional consideration will be given to candidates with:
  • Judicial clerkship experience
  • Prior law firm litigation experience
  • Experience handling sophisticated commercial disputes
