Position Description:
Trusts & Estates Associate
Our client, a premier Am Law firm with a globally recognized private wealth and trusts & estates practice, is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate with 2-4 years of experience to join its Private Wealth team. This opportunity is available in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Diego.This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney interested in sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer planning, tax strategy, and trust and estate administration for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced private wealth attorneys on complex domestic and international planning matters.
Responsibilities
- Draft and revise estate planning documents, including:
- Wills
- Revocable and irrevocable trusts
- Powers of attorney
- Advance healthcare directives
- Assist clients with:
- Estate planning
- Wealth transfer strategies
- Trust administration
- Probate and post-death planning matters
- Support estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax planning initiatives
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda regarding:
- Estate planning issues
- Trust administration issues
- Federal and state tax matters
- Wealth preservation strategies
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on sophisticated tax and succession planning structures
- Assist with client communications and ongoing administration matters
- Manage multiple client matters while maintaining strong attention to detail and responsiveness
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the California Bar
- 2-4 years of law firm experience in:
- Trusts & Estates
- Estate Planning
- Tax Planning
- Private Wealth matters
- Experience with high-net-worth client planning and trust administration preferred
- Excellent drafting and analytical skills
- Strong legal research and writing abilities
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Strong organizational and project-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently
- Superior academic credentials
Preferred Qualifications
- LL.M. in Taxation
- Experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families
- Exposure to sophisticated transfer tax planning techniques
- Experience with trust and estate administration matters

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $235,000 – $310,000 annually
- Compensation based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit
