As Wall Street Law Firms Seek out DC Growth, Simpson Sticks to Corporate Practice Roots

Wall Street law firms are increasingly targeting the D.C. market for its talent, heightening competition among Big Law firms in the District. While billing rates in D.C. may not match those in New York, they are on the rise. Simpson Thacher, celebrating 20 years in D.C. with over 170 attorneys, exemplifies this trend, viewing the D.C. market as less competitive for top talent. Other New York firms are also expanding their D.C. offices, attracted by the availability of high-caliber talent.
