Big Law Merger Pressure’s On in New York. Who’s Next?
The latest in a string of actions involving established New York firms trying to stay up with the increasing competitiveness in the world’s largest legal market is the proposed combination of McDermott Will & Emery with Schulte, Roth & Zabel.
In an interview, seasoned law firm merger consultant Kent Zimmermann stated, “The dominoes have been toppling in New York.” Stroock came first, followed by Shearman, Kramer Levin, and now Schulte. It begs the question, “Who will be next?”
