During one of the bloodiest times in the nation’s history, Eversheds Sutherland made a daring step that helped establish his presence in Baghdad.
Tawfiq Tabbaa, who is currently Eversheds’ managing partner for Iraq and Jordan, took the remarkable decision to drive across the border from Amman and establish a local practice in Baghdad in 2003, when the Second Iraq War was raging. The war was far from ended, but shortly after U.S. President George W. Bush announced the conclusion of major combat operations, Tabbaa & Partners—later renamed Sanad Law Group—opened its office in Iraq.
