As of July this year, 192 government lawyers in the D.C. area had switched to private practice, up from 127 during the same time in 2021, following the Biden administration’s takeover, according to statistics made public by legal consulting firm The McCormick Group.
Access to the contacts of former government attorneys who are still employed by the government is one of the benefits that firms aim to obtain by hiring them. According to one expert, that advantage is becoming less and less assured.
