Gibson Dunn Secures Denial of Class Certification for Meta Platforms in Pixel Privacy Litigation
In a data-privacy class action against Meta regarding third-party websites’ use of its free Pixel code, which enables websites to send data to Meta and receive analytics about their users, Gibson Dunn won a significant victory on behalf of client Meta Platforms, Inc. on March 30, 2026, persuading Judge P. Casey Pitts of the Northern District of California to deny class certification. These websites are prohibited by Meta’s conditions from transmitting any sensitive data via the Pixel.
