Antitrust/M&A Clearance Team Associate (1st/2nd Year) – Washington DC

Position Description:
Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking junior attorneys with strong academic and professional credentials to join its Mergers & Acquisitions Clearance team in either Chicago or Washington, D.C.
The ideal candidate will have approximately 1 year of experience with antitrust/competition-related M&A clearance matters. Experience with regulatory or corporate M&A, as well as exposure to private equity clients, is a plus.
This team is responsible for advising on compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act (HSR Act) and works closely with international colleagues to support global merger control efforts. The group partners with busy and growing antitrust, corporate, and private equity practices, focusing on regulatory antitrust matters rather than litigation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing HSR reportability
- Preparing and filing HSR notifications
- Managing filing processes, including coordination with clients, internal deal teams, and opposing counsel
Attorneys in this role may also gain exposure to substantive antitrust matters, including competitor transaction analysis, Second Request responses, and broader antitrust counseling.

Compensation: Our client offers a highly competitive compensation structure and comprehensive benefits package. The expected base salary range for this position is $225,000–$235,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
