Position Description:
We are working with our client, a leading global law firm, to identify a Conflicts Attorney I to join its growing and dynamic Conflicts team.

Position Overview
The Conflicts Attorney I plays a key role in supporting new business intake, lateral hiring, and firm growth initiatives by identifying, analyzing, and resolving potential conflicts of interest. This position works closely with attorneys and business professionals across the firm to ensure compliance with applicable ethical rules and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process new business and lateral hire requests, including conducting conflicts searches and related research
- Analyze search results and prepare detailed conflicts reports with recommended resolutions
- Draft and review engagement letters, conflict waivers, and ethical wall memoranda
- Conduct legal research on professional responsibility rules, case law, and jurisdictional issues
- Advise attorneys and internal stakeholders on conflicts and ethical considerations
- Collaborate with legal and administrative teams to resolve conflicts and business issues efficiently
- Maintain and update conflicts database records, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation
- Support training efforts and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Participate in after-hours on-call support for urgent conflicts matters, as needed
- Assist with system implementations, testing, and special projects
Qualifications
Required:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar admission
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a large law firm conflicts department or as a practicing associate at a large firm
Preferred:
- Familiarity with conflicts and intake software platforms
- Experience working in a large, international law firm environment

Work Environment & Compensation
This role is offered on a hybrid or fully remote basis, with the expectation that candidates reside within a commutable distance of a firm office.
The anticipated annual salary range for Illinois-based candidates is $110,000–$142,000, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and market factors. Our client also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare coverage, retirement contributions, bonus eligibility, and additional employee support programs.
