Position Description:
Conflicts Counsel
Our client, a prestigious Am Law 50 law firm, is seeking a Conflicts Counsel to join its Office of General Counsel. This position may be based in several California offices, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement.The Conflicts Counsel will play a key role in reviewing, analyzing, and resolving conflicts of interest issues related to new clients, new matters, and attorney lateral hires. This position is ideal for an attorney with conflicts experience who enjoys professional responsibility matters, risk management, and collaborating with attorneys across a large law firm platform.
Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest issues arising from:
- New clients
- New matters
- Attorney lateral hires
- Collaborate with attorneys and firm personnel to identify, evaluate, and address potential legal and business conflicts
- Support the client and matter intake process by ensuring submissions are complete, accurate, and compliant with firm policies
- Draft, review, and revise:
- Conflict waivers
- Engagement letters
- Outside counsel guidelines
- Other intake-related documentation
- Respond to attorney and staff inquiries regarding:
- Conflicts of interest
- Professional responsibility considerations
- Intake procedures and firm policies
- Assist in documenting and implementing conflict resolutions
- Support risk management and compliance initiatives within the firm
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Minimum 3+ years of conflicts analysis experience
- Strong knowledge of conflicts of interest principles and applicable professional responsibility rules
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to complex issues
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including:
- Word
- Excel
- Outlook
- Experience working with conflicts and intake management systems preferred

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $190,000 – $210,000 annually
- Comprehensive benefits package, including health, retirement, and other employee benefit programs
