Position Description:
Our client, a nationally recognized Am Law firm, is seeking an Employment Associate to join its Employment Practice Group in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with significant employment law experience who is interested in handling sophisticated wage-and-hour matters, class and collective actions, and other complex employment litigation.

The ideal candidate will have four to seven years of employment law experience, strong litigation skills, and the ability to provide strategic counseling and advocacy on a wide range of workplace-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on wage-and-hour compliance and employment law issues.
  • Represent employers in complex employment litigation matters in state and federal courts.
  • Handle class actions and collective actions, including wage-and-hour disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, pleadings, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Participate in all phases of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, depositions, and dispute resolution.
  • Collaborate with clients and legal teams to develop practical and effective solutions to employment-related challenges.
  • Analyze evolving employment laws and regulations and provide proactive guidance to clients.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar.
  • 4–7 years of employment law experience.
  • Significant experience with wage-and-hour counseling and litigation strongly preferred.
  • Experience handling class actions, collective actions, or other complex employment litigation matters.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality work product.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Compensation

Our client offers a highly competitive compensation structure. Expected base salary is tied to class year and currently ranges from:

  • 2026/2025 Class Year: $235,000
  • 2024 Class Year: $245,000
  • 2023 Class Year: $270,000
  • 2022 Class Year: $320,000
  • 2021 Class Year: $385,000
  • 2020 Class Year: $410,000
  • 2019 Class Year: $440,000
  • 2018 and more senior class years: $455,000

Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
