Position Description:
Our client, a leader in renewable energy and energy infrastructure law, is seeking an associate with 3-9 years of experience to join its Energy & Infrastructure practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience advising on renewable energy and energy storage projects, including the negotiation of PPAs, VPPAs, RECs, ISDAs, EEIs, and other energy offtake or energy commodity arrangements.

This opportunity is ideal for attorneys who are passionate about the energy transition and have experience advising clients on renewable energy and energy storage projects, with a particular emphasis on commercial offtake arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of energy offtake agreements, including:

    • Physical and virtual power purchase agreements (PPAs)

    • Corporate PPAs

    • Energy storage offtake agreements

    • Renewable energy credit (REC) agreements

    • Carbon attribute and environmental products agreements

    • Resource adequacy and other energy sales agreements

  • Advise developers, sponsors, investors, utilities, and corporate energy buyers on renewable energy and storage projects.

  • Structure and negotiate energy commodity and trading agreements, including industry-standard forms such as ISDA, EEI, and related documentation.

  • Work closely with project development, finance, and M&A teams on cutting-edge energy transactions.

  • Provide strategic commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 9 years of law firm experience.

  • Significant experience with renewable energy, energy storage, or infrastructure projects.

  • Experience negotiating one or more of the following:

    • PPAs

    • VPPAs

    • Energy offtake agreements

    • ISDA agreements

    • EEI agreements

    • REC agreements

    • Energy commodity transactions

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and client management skills.

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment serving market-leading energy clients.
