Finance & Transactions Attorney (Debt Finance Focus) – 1-5 years

Position Description:
Our client is seeking a Transactional Associate (1–5 years) to join its Richmond-based borrower-side team.

This is a high-growth opportunity, and we are intentionally seeking candidates from a broad range of experience levels and practice areas.
The associate will support a borrower-side debt finance practice, representing companies and sponsors in a wide range of financing transactions.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to:
- Transition into borrower-side finance, or
- Deepen existing experience in a highly active transactional practice
We strongly encourage applications from attorneys with:
- Debt finance experience (borrower, sponsor, or lender-side)
- General corporate / M&A experience
- Securities & capital markets background
- Real estate finance or other transactional practices
Direct borrower-side experience is not required. The team is committed to training and mentoring the right candidate who is eager to build expertise in debt finance.
What You’ll Do
This associate will play a key role in a sophisticated borrower-side debt finance practice, working closely with experienced partners on a broad range of transactions. The role includes representing borrowers and sponsors in leveraged finance deals, drafting and negotiating credit agreements and related documentation, and managing deal execution from diligence through closing.
You’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of matters, including secured and unsecured credit facilities, acquisition financings, recapitalizations, and fund finance transactions, across industries such as financial services, healthcare, energy, and technology.

Location Note
Richmond is strongly preferred. However, Charlotte-based attorneys will also be considered with the understanding that this role supports the Richmond-based borrower-side team. Candidates must be barred in Virginia or Charlotte.
