Position Description:
Our client is seeking a Special Counsel or Senior Associate to join its Global Project, Energy, and Infrastructure Finance team in Los Angeles. This senior-level attorney will advise on complex structured financial transactions for energy project developers, investors, and lenders. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in renewable project finance, tax credit monetization, and energy transition transactions. This role requires strong business acumen, client development skills, and the ability to mentor junior lawyers while leading sophisticated transactions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex project finance transactions for energy and infrastructure projects
  • Advise on renewable energy financing, tax credit monetization, and energy transition deals
  • Structure and negotiate financing arrangements for developers, investors, and lenders
  • Collaborate with internal tax specialists to optimize transaction structures
  • Manage client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys on the team

 

Required Qualifications

  • Previous law firm experience required; Am Law 200, leading regional, or major boutique firm experience preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in project finance or related practice areas
  • Proven track record of leading sophisticated transactions at a top-tier law firm or in-house
  • Strong academic credentials and deep industry knowledge in natural resources and infrastructure
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple high-value transactions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with renewable energy projects and tax credit monetization
  • Familiarity with energy transition transactions and related financing structures
  • Demonstrated client development experience and ability to grow business relationships
  • Background in banking or financial services related to project finance
