Position Description:
Our client, a nationally recognized law firm, is seeking a Government Contracts Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join its Washington, DC office. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in federal procurement law, FAR compliance, and government contracts counseling who is looking to work on sophisticated matters for government contractors, grant recipients, and other clients operating in highly regulated environments.
The successful candidate will have experience advising clients on a wide range of government contracts issues, including bid protests, compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and agency supplements, and federal grant compliance matters. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing complex legal issues, providing practical business-focused guidance, and collaborating with clients and colleagues in a fast-paced practice.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on federal procurement regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and related agency supplements
- Represent clients in bid protests before administrative tribunals and government agencies
- Counsel government contractors and grant recipients on compliance, regulatory, and risk management matters
- Provide guidance on federal grant compliance requirements and related regulatory obligations
- Assist with government contracts litigation, investigations, and dispute resolution matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate government contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and joint venture agreements
- Support clients in government contracts-related mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence reviews and risk assessments
- Work closely with partners and clients on strategic procurement and compliance matters
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver upon start date
- 3–5 years of government contracts experience at a large or mid-sized law firm, government contracts boutique, or government agency
- Demonstrated experience handling bid protests and government contracts counseling matters
- Strong knowledge of the FAR, agency supplements, and federal procurement regulations
- Experience advising clients on federal grant compliance and related regulatory requirements
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and client counseling skills
- Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple matters simultaneously
Preferred Experience
- Federal court litigation experience
- Government contracts litigation and investigations
- Contract Disputes Act (CDA) claims
- False Claims Act (FCA) and whistleblower matters
- Prime contractor and subcontractor disputes
- Government contracts M&A due diligence and transactional support
- Drafting and negotiating complex government contracts and related agreements
