Position Description:

Trial Attorney / Insurance Defense Attorney

Our client, a leading national insurance and litigation organization, is seeking an experienced Attorney to handle moderately complex civil litigation matters throughout California. This position is primarily remote, with court appearances and other litigation-related travel required as needed.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with strong trial and litigation experience who is looking for autonomy, flexibility, and the opportunity to manage a sophisticated caseload while working within a collaborative and supportive legal team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage all phases of civil litigation involving personal injury and property damage claims
  • Handle matters from initial case assessment through settlement, trial, and resolution
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
  • Develop and execute litigation, discovery, investigation, and trial strategies
  • Lead settlement negotiations, mediations, hearings, and trial proceedings
  • Support senior litigation counsel on complex matters through all phases of litigation
  • Evaluate legal risks and develop effective case handling strategies
  • Advise clients and claims professionals regarding litigation strategy and case exposure
  • Utilize e-discovery platforms, case management systems, and litigation technologies to improve efficiency
  • Maintain compliance with all ethical standards, legal requirements, and internal policies
  • Mentor junior attorneys and legal support professionals
  • Assist with training initiatives and contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the California Bar
  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation and trial experience
  • Experience handling personal injury, insurance defense, or related civil litigation matters
  • Strong courtroom, deposition, mediation, and settlement negotiation experience
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Familiarity with insurance law and claims-related litigation
  • Experience utilizing litigation technology, e-discovery tools, and case management systems
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and client management abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills

Preferred Experience

  • Insurance defense litigation
  • Personal injury litigation
  • Property damage claims
  • Trial experience involving moderate- to high-exposure matters
  • Experience collaborating with claims professionals and business stakeholders
