Position Description:
Our client, a highly regarded international law firm, is seeking a junior Tax Associate to join its nationally recognized Tax practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters supporting structured finance, securitization, derivatives, and private funds practices.

The successful candidate will work with attorneys advising clients on complex domestic and international transactions, fund formation matters, financial products, restructurings, and other strategic business initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior associate seeking exposure to cutting-edge transactional tax work within a collaborative and market-leading practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on the tax aspects of complex business and financial transactions.
  • Support structured finance, securitization, derivatives, and private funds matters.
  • Analyze federal tax issues arising from transactional and investment structures.
  • Assist with fund formation and investment-related tax matters.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda regarding tax planning strategies and transactional structures.
  • Review and negotiate transaction documents from a tax perspective.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across corporate, finance, structured products, and investment management practices.
  • Help develop practical and innovative tax solutions for sophisticated clients and transactions.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the applicable state bar, or eligibility to obtain admission.
  • Experience in transactional tax matters.
  • Prior structured finance or securitization experience is not required.
  • Prior law firm experience is required, preferably with a large law firm.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent analytical, research, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in complex financial transactions and tax structuring.

Compensation

Our client offers a highly competitive compensation package.

Base salary starts at $235,000+ and will be commensurate with class year and relevant experience.
