Position Description:
Senior Counsel – Litigation (Los Angeles)
Our client is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their Los Angeles office. This role is ideal for a seasoned litigator and strong legal writer who is highly motivated, proactive, and comfortable managing matters independently.The successful candidate will play a hands-on role across all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial, while maintaining a strong client-facing presence. This position also includes mentoring and supervising junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of approximately 10–20 active matters
- Investigate claims and develop strategic case-handling approaches
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Review and analyze documents for production
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw
- Take and defend depositions
- Draft pleadings and motions and argue motions in court
- Attend hearings and court appearances
- Draft pre-trial and trial materials
- Prepare cases for mediation and trial and actively participate in both
- Provide clear, timely, and effective reporting to clients
- Manage and supervise associates and paralegals
Essential Skills & Experience
- Admission to the California Bar (required)
- Extensive experience handling all aspects of litigation
- Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters and prioritize competing deadlines
- Ability to quickly identify, assess, and resolve legal issues

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $210,000 – $250,000, depending on a variety of factors including experience, training, skill set, and business needs. Compensation decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and typically do not start at the top of the range.
