Position Description:
Our client, a full‑service law firm, is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates attorney to join its Estate Planning and Probate practice. This is an excellent opportunity to work with sophisticated clients in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment while continuing to build and grow an advanced estate planning practice.
The position offers flexibility, with the option to be based in an office or work remotely.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of experience handling complex estate planning, tax, and probate matters. This role provides the opportunity to work on high‑level planning strategies for taxable estates, partner with other practice groups, and contribute meaningfully to a collegial and evolving team.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on complex estate planning strategies, including estate and gift tax planning for high‑net‑worth individuals
- Handle estate and trust administration matters from start to finish
- Develop and implement business succession planning strategies
- Prepare estate and gift tax returns, including for taxable estates
- Provide counsel on probate matters and related proceedings
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to provide comprehensive client service
- Build and maintain client relationships while supporting the continued growth of the practice
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in trusts and estates, tax, and probate matters
- Substantial experience with:
- Estate and gift tax planning for taxable estates
- Estate and trust administration
- Business succession planning
- Preparation of estate and gift tax returns
- Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage complex matters independently
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across practice groups
- Entrepreneurial approach and interest in contributing to practice growth
- Portable business is preferred but not required
