Trusts and Estates Attorney – High Net Worth Practice – 2-4 years

Position Description:
Our client is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate (2–4 years) to join its Private Client Services group in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about advising high-net-worth individuals and families on sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer, and tax-efficient strategies.
This role offers meaningful client exposure, hands-on experience with complex matters, and the opportunity to grow within a collaborative, entrepreneurial team that serves an elite client base.
About the Practice
The group represents high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, typically advising clients in the $50M+ net worth range, with exposure to estates exceeding $1B. The practice goes well beyond “baseline” estate planning, focusing on advanced wealth transfer strategies, tax optimization, and multigenerational planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on comprehensive estate planning strategies, including:
- Wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts
- Advanced wealth transfer and tax-efficient structures
- Assist with and manage trust and estate administration matters
- Support the design and implementation of sophisticated estate plans for high-value estates
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex and bespoke client matters
- Maintain direct client contact and provide responsive, high-quality service
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in trusts and estates law, estate planning, or a related field
- Experience working with high-net-worth clients and exposure to more sophisticated planning techniques beyond basic estate documents
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and communicate effectively
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Active Illinois bar admission
Candidate Profile
- Candidates may come from large law firms, strong mid-sized firms, or reputable trusts & estates boutiques
- A solid technical foundation in estate planning is required; the team is open to training and development, but candidates should bring meaningful baseline experience
- Ideal candidates will be eager to deepen their expertise in complex, high-value estate planning work
