Firm Description:
Our client is a fast-growing, full-service law firm with offices in Chicago and Milwaukee. With a foundation built by partners from top-tier international firms, our client offers sophisticated legal services across a broad range of corporate and litigation matters. The firm represents a diverse and engaging client base, including private equity firms, founders, startups, venture capital investors, family offices, and public companies.

Position Description:
Our client is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate (2–4 years) to join its Private Client Services group in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about advising high-net-worth individuals and families on sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer, and tax-efficient strategies.

This role offers meaningful client exposure, hands-on experience with complex matters, and the opportunity to grow within a collaborative, entrepreneurial team that serves an elite client base.

About the Practice
The group represents high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, typically advising clients in the $50M+ net worth range, with exposure to estates exceeding $1B. The practice goes well beyond “baseline” estate planning, focusing on advanced wealth transfer strategies, tax optimization, and multigenerational planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on comprehensive estate planning strategies, including:
    • Wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts
    • Advanced wealth transfer and tax-efficient structures
  • Assist with and manage trust and estate administration matters
  • Support the design and implementation of sophisticated estate plans for high-value estates
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex and bespoke client matters
  • Maintain direct client contact and provide responsive, high-quality service

  Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in trusts and estates law, estate planning, or a related field
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients and exposure to more sophisticated planning techniques beyond basic estate documents
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and communicate effectively
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Active Illinois bar admission

Candidate Profile

  • Candidates may come from large law firms, strong mid-sized firms, or reputable trusts & estates boutiques
  • A solid technical foundation in estate planning is required; the team is open to training and development, but candidates should bring meaningful baseline experience
  • Ideal candidates will be eager to deepen their expertise in complex, high-value estate planning work
