We revealed this summer that Ropes & Gray, the seventh-largest firm in the nation by gross sales, has been considering establishing a nonequity partnership tier. This came after several well-known companies had begun to accept nonequity partners in recent years, beginning with Cravath’s creation of a “salaried partner tier” in November 2023.
