As lawyer compensation costs continue to rise, law firms are increasingly seeking detailed analyses of their practices to assess their actual profitability. Despite improvements in their analytical approaches, some firms still face challenges in implementing profitability concepts, according to consultants. One compensation specialist noted that high-performing partners often leave firms because profitability metrics are not used or introduced thoughtfully.
