Position Description:
Conflicts Attorney | Fully Remote Considered | $145,000–$180,000
Excellent opportunity for an attorney with conflicts, intake, ethics, or professional responsibility experience seeking a substantive, advisory-focused role within a national law firm environment.
This is not simply a conflicts clearance position. The attorney in this role serves as an advisor to attorneys and firm leadership, evaluating complex legal relationships, identifying ethical and business risks, and developing practical solutions that allow matters to move forward while maintaining compliance with professional responsibility obligations.
Licensure Requirement: Candidates must be actively licensed in Illinois or be licensed in a jurisdiction with Illinois reciprocity and eligible for admission in Illinois.
Responsibilities include:
• Evaluating and resolving conflicts issues related to new business intake, matter openings, client updates, and lateral attorney onboarding
• Conducting in-depth research into corporate structures, affiliates, and client relationships utilizing internal and external databases
• Developing conflict-resolution strategies, including ethical screens, disclosures, waivers, and consent agreements
• Drafting and maintaining conflict waivers, disclosures, engagement language, and supporting documentation
• Reviewing Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement terms for conflicts-related provisions, restrictions, and required safeguards
• Partnering with firm leadership and stakeholders to clear conflicts and facilitate attorney onboarding
• Advising attorneys and staff regarding ethical obligations, client relationships, and intake procedures
• Educating legal professionals on conflicts policies, procedures, and professional responsibility considerations
This role is well suited for attorneys who enjoy analyzing complex legal relationships, exercising judgment, and working closely with attorneys and firm leadership on risk management and compliance matters.
Exceptional candidates will be considered on a fully remote basis, creating a rare opportunity for attorneys seeking increased flexibility while remaining engaged in sophisticated, attorney-facing work.
Compensation ranges from $145,000 to $180,000, depending on experience. The benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; flexible spending and healthcare savings accounts; a 401(k) with firm profit share; paid time off; firm-paid holidays; wellness and personal advocacy programs; family planning resources; leave programs; tuition reimbursement; and additional employee support offerings.
Ideal candidates will possess at least three years of conflicts or professional responsibility experience within a mid-to-large law firm setting, strong analytical abilities, and experience navigating complex business relationships, ethical issues, and attorney-facing advisory work.
