Evening Litigation Legal Assistant – Chicago Office
Our client, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm, is seeking an experienced Evening Litigation Legal Assistant to join their Chicago office. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting multiple attorneys across diverse practice groups.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in assisting litigators with document production, trial and arbitration preparation, e-filing, and various legal projects. This position is perfect for someone who values being a proactive and engaged member of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, revise, and proofread pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents (Federal, State, and local levels, including appellate).
- Manage case correspondence and coordinate with courts, clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel.
- Assist with discovery production, deposition preparation, trial binders, and overall trial readiness.
- Handle e-filing procedures for Federal, State, and local courts.
- Maintain client and administrative files in accordance with firm protocols.
- Use workflow management systems to organize assignments and support team members during peak periods or time off.
- Schedule meetings, video conferences, and manage attorney calendars.
- Enter and release billable time and review billing proformas.
- Conduct conflict checks, open/close matters, and prepare engagement letters.
- Monitor case deadlines and coordinate with the Docket Department.
- Arrange travel and manage expense reimbursements.
- Deliver high-quality client service in line with the firm’s standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in practice group support coverage.
- Stay current with firm systems and procedures.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required.
- Perform other administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; 5–7 years of litigation experience preferred, especially with trial work.
- Strong knowledge of Federal and State filing procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF tools.
- Experience with legal software such as InTapp Time, Intapp Open, Chrome River, Aderant, Interaction, and iManage is a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $85,000–$105,000, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
- Eligible for discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
