Legal Support Assistant – Consumer Bankruptcy (Jacksonville, FL)
Our client, a respected law firm with a strong presence in the Southeast, is seeking a full-time Legal Support Assistant to join their Jacksonville, FL office. This role is ideal for a professional with secretarial or administrative experience in consumer bankruptcy, who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and is looking to make a meaningful contribution to a collaborative legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex administrative tasks requiring familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
- Prepare, edit, and draft legal documents, reports, pleadings, and correspondence.
- File legal documents in bankruptcy, state, and federal courts, adhering to specific formatting and procedural requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, and conferences.
- Maintain attorney calendars, including court deadlines and appearances.
- Arrange travel and process related expense reimbursements.
- Enter and manage billable time entries; edit time and pre-bills as needed.
- Handle incoming calls, mail distribution, and document shipments.
- Open and maintain client files and organizational records.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Support additional administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in a legal support role, with a focus on consumer bankruptcy; state court experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in electronic filing procedures across district, state, and federal courts.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word and ability to type at least 50 words per minute.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and remain composed under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Must be able to work both on-site and remotely, with reliable internet access.
