Position Description:
Our client is seeking a Legal Assistant/Secretary with at least 5 years of experience specifically supporting Commercial Litigation attorneys in State and Federal Court.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support 3-4 attorneys.
- Prepare, edit, proofread legal documents such as dispositive motions, notices of motions/filings, replies and responses to dispositive motions, subpoenas, complaints, affidavits for contested filings and accompanying document.
- Proactively manage diaries, calendars and court dates in Microsoft Outlook.
- File electronic documents in Federal and Circuit Courts, including collar counties.
- Set-up process servers as directed.
- Transcribe and prepare briefs and correspondence via electronic dictation.
- Analyze incoming emails and correspondence for appropriate action and reply, as directed, if pertaining to scheduling, billing or other administrative matters.
- Create, organize and maintain files for attorneys.
- Assist with attorneys with legal billing and time entry systems such as (E55).
- Assist with reception coverage as needed.
Required Experience:
- 5 years of experience in commercial litigation
- Type 70-80 words per minute
- Advanced experience with all Microsoft Office 365 Programs and Adobe (ex. able to manipulate PDFs such as add text, change text, extract or add pages and perform conversions from Word to pdf and vice versa)
- Knowledge of:
- e-Filing in Odyssey and CM/ECF;
- Familiarity with county clerk websites such as Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties;
- Knowledge on how to look up court forms on the various court websites;
- Knowledge on how to edit and save these forms into document management system; and
- Knowledge of the CCC Portal and collar counties’ Order retrieval system. o Knowledge of various Judge’s Standing Orders
- Proficient with
- Winscribe (machine transcription);
- Workshare compare (redline/blackline documents)
- Document management programs such as NetDocs
- Videoconferencing programs (Zoom)
