Positions Description:
Our client is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Real Estate practice in the Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have 4–7 years of broad-based experience advising clients on real estate matters and possess excellent academic credentials. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with partners and clients on a wide range of real estate and real estate financing transactions, including those involving new markets tax credits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Representing lenders, investors, developers, and property owners in transactions involving acquisition, disposition, development, financing (including new markets tax credit financing), and leasing of real estate across various asset classes (office, retail, industrial, multifamily, community facilities, and mixed-use projects).
  • Drafting and negotiating a variety of real estate-related documents, including loan agreements, operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, and development contracts.
  • Managing and closing real estate transactions, including title and survey review, due diligence, zoning and land-use analysis, and entity formation.
  • Advising clients on construction, development, and joint venture arrangements, as well as operational and asset management issues.
  • Mentoring junior associates and overseeing workstreams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client work.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in a sophisticated real estate practice.
  • Experience in acquisitions, dispositions, financings, tax credit transactions, leasing, and development.
  • Prior law firm experience is required; experience with lender-side financing and tax credit transactions is a plus.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar and in good standing.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, analytical abilities, and a commitment to client service.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively within a team.
